The Loose Ring Eggbutt Snaffle has the advantages of both the fixed mouthpiece of a traditional eggbutt and the mobility of a traditional loose ring combined into one! The single-jointed mouthpiece of the snaffle works on the bars, and the tongue of the horse’s mouth. As every bit does, it has a mild effect on the corners of the mouth as well. The fixed nature of the Eggbutt bit rings to the mouthpiece encourage a horse to have a steady contact, and to ‘lean into’ a feel. It is a fantastic strength, which has the down side of either a horse taking this too far, and leaning too much, or a horse preferring the small freedom and movement of a loose ring, and thus getting a little resentful of the fixed nature of an Eggbutt.
