The benefits of the gag provide additional control when needed through poll pressure and the benefits of the full cheeks will assist as a turning aid which is useful in young horses, or horses evading the 'turn' leg aids. It will also prevent the bit sliding through the horses mouth, thus more stable. Leather has the characteristic that it is softer when wet and leather stimulates saliva production to make the bit wet.
Note: The bit must be fitted so that the seam faces the mouth opening. As it is a soft material, traces of use may occur due to the horse's teeth. These do not represent a quality defect.
