The Bates Balsam has a rich wax based content which is extremely effective at penetrating the surface of the leather, ensuring not only that the correct level of moisture is maintained but also helping to form a barrier dramatically increasing resistance to water, sweat and wear.Leather balsam can be applied heavily in high wear areas, such as the top of the saddle flap where the stirrup leathers will rub. Bates Leather Balsam can be applied to all areas of your saddle that are not suede, including the padded inserts and girth straps.
